Since Russia first invaded Ukraine, America’s television and radio broadcasters have provided in-depth news coverage of the plight of the Ukraine people. They have also led fundraising efforts to raise money and collect donations for Ukrainians. Now, broadcasters are uniting behind a campaign to support children displaced by the war in Ukraine. The campaign will begin on World Refugee Day, June 20, to benefit UNICEF USA’s emergency response and humanitarian work in Ukraine and neighboring countries.

Through July 4, broadcast radio and television stations will air public service announcements and share information on their websites, social media and newscasts to raise money to support Ukraine’s children in partnership with UNICEF USA. The group and its partners have been on the ground in Ukraine and bordering countries working to provide children and their families with humanitarian assistance, including child protection, water and sanitation, health, nutrition, education services and more.

The war in Ukraine has been devastating to many, including millions of children and families. According to UNICEF USA, almost two out of every three children are currently displaced either within Ukraine or in nearby countries due to the war. Wherever there is conflict, it is children who suffer most.

Stations may download PSAs in English and Spanish here and encourage audiences to donate to UNICEF USA’s relief efforts at unicefusa.org/action.

Broadcasters are proud to participate in this campaign that demonstrates the power of the airwaves to create impactful public good.
