The 2024 election was a defining moment for our democracy, made possible by the tireless efforts of the Hispanic Media GOTV Coalition and dedicated community leaders. Their extraordinary work gave millions of Hispanic voters the clarity, resources and confidence they needed to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
In an era when misinformation poses one of the greatest threats to democracy, this coalition’s leadership stood as a beacon of trust. By delivering trusted, culturally resonant messaging that met voters where they are – in the language they speak and on the platforms they rely on – coalition partners underscored the vital role of broadcasters and community organizations in sustaining an informed electorate through radio, television, social media and community outreach.
Initiatives like Martes de Acción united coalition partners to provide clear, actionable information to Hispanic voters. From sharing voter registration deadlines to combating misinformation and delivering guidance on how, when and where to vote, the coalition created a clear path to the polls for millions.
These efforts achieved remarkable results, resonating across communities:
- On social media, TelevisaUnivision’s #VotaConmigo campaign generated 90 million impressions and donated $30 million in airtime to empower communities.
- Meruelo Media’s #VozVotoVida campaign achieved 65,000 impressions and contributed over $1 million in airtime to reinforce its commitment to serving Hispanic voters.
- Salem Media Group donated $10,000 in airtime to GOTV initiatives, further demonstrating its dedication to the cause.
- TV Quisqueya donated more than $63,000 in airtime, ensuring critical information reached its audience.
- 2PuntosPlatform dedicated 10-20 hours weekly to GOTV initiatives, amplifying messages with hashtags like #GOTV and #LLNC.
This partnership was more than a campaign – it was a powerful stand against the overwhelming noise of misinformation, including the alarming rise of AI-driven manipulation. Coalition members used innovative tools to verify facts, exposing deepfakes and doctored content designed to mislead. Their efforts weren’t just about countering deception; they were about restoring trust. By empowering Hispanic voters with clear, accurate information, they ensured truth and transparency prevailed, reminding us of the extraordinary impact we can make when we come together to protect our democracy.
As we reflect on this election season, the contributions of the Hispanic Media GOTV Coalition shine as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through unity, trust and unwavering dedication. Their efforts not only fortified the foundation of our democracy but also empowered communities with the knowledge and confidence to make their voices heard. NAB is deeply grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside such remarkable partners in this vital work, knowing their impact will resonate far beyond the ballot box.
